Matthew 5: 13-16

Jesus said to his disciples:
“You are the salt of the earth.
But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned?
It is no longer good for anything
but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father.”

Lord, fill me with the light of your love. Let it consume me and flow through me. Let me be a lantern to carry this light to all in darkness. Most in darkness do not know they are in darkness for they have never seen the light. When you have lived in darkness and you see the light for the first time the light is painful to look at. It hurts the eyes. You shield your eyes. You look away. If the light persists you eventually get used to it and then come to love the light.

That is our commandment in this passage of Holy Scripture. We are to reflect God’s light in all that we do so all may see it. We are to be steadfast and strong and not shrink from this responsibility. We are to live a lifetime giving glory to God in all that we do. Others will see the goodness of our lives and the joy that we have and they will come to desire what we have. This is how you open the door to bring others to Christ. Live the beautiful, do the good and the good people in the dark will be attracted to you as a moth is to the flame. Evangelize with the way you live your life.

This will open the door of opportunity for you to bring someone to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Do not just tell them about Jesus. They need to know Jesus first before learning about him. To know someone is to have an intimate relationship with them. You can know about without ever knowing. Pray with them. Pray for them. Be Christ to them.
